Pamper your Dogs with Pawdicure
As a way of relaxation, people go to the spa and receive pedicures. Most fortunately, dog salons now offer the same feature to your dogs. This is what you call the pawdicure.
Giving your dog a pawdicure does not simply mean pampering them. Pawdicure is a term used for the regular grooming of your dog’s feet. It is important, given that growing nails could pose as a big problem to your pet. Having a long nail disturbs your pet from walking, and could cause them to shift their weight and walk on their heels, making them unbalanced. This discomfort may even lead to uncomfortable complications with their hips and joints. Over grown nails can also cause pains in the pad of your dog’s feet.
You could prevent all these by having your dog a regular nail trimming when you have them pawdicured. Simple nail trimming is inexpensive and could be done either by a groomer or even your own vet. You can also do it by yourself at your own home, as long as you have a nail trimmer for your dog.
There is, however, one vain in the nail that you should be careful of should you decide to trim your dog’s nail by yourself. This nail is called the quick, which could be found at the center of your nail. This vain is responsible in the nail’s quick growth, and you dog could suffer bleeding and pain when you cut it during trimming, so extreme care is advised.
Also try to check the pad of your dog’s feet for some sores or blisters. Cut any growing hair between the pads to avoid probable slipping and avoid catching any dirt.
Giving your pets a pawdicure is not merely an issue of aesthetics. Trimming their nails is also a part of dog grooming, to keep them strong and healthy.
