Basic Steps to Untangling Knots on Your Dog’s Coat and Drying Your Dog’s Hair
Untangling knots on your dog’s coat as well as drying its hair after bathing it are just two of the things you need to do when you groom your dog. These two are often done separately since you need to untangle the knots on your dog’s coat and remove any matted hair from it as well at the beginning of your grooming session and you dry your dog’s hair after you bathe it. There are times however when you may need to do these two at the same time and that is when your dog’s long hair gets some tangles into it while you bathe it. This is when you will need to untangle and dry your dog’s hair at the same time.
When you are untangling knots on your dog’s coat, whether it is before you bathe it or after you bathe it, you will need to exercise caution. Untangling knots on your dog’s coat can be rather frustrating particularly if the knots are tight and if there is dirt that complicates things. When you untangle the knots from your dog’s coat, you will need to use either a wide toothed comb or a brush and you will need to slowly brush out the tangles and the knots slowly from the outside working in. You will need to take care as well not to brush your dog’s skin while doing this to avoid hurting your dog.
One thing you may want to do if you find that some of the knots are difficult to untangle is to hold the dog’s fur at the base while you brush the tangles out. This will make it easier for you to work out the tangles from your dog’s hair without having to worry about hurting your dog with the pulling of his hair since you will be preventing the pulling of the roots of the hair by doing this.
